To wrap up the school year in a fun and engaging way, the students of class 8a took part in a special English project: P.E. in English. During the last week of school, the students of class 8a together with their teacher Mrs. Gattermann carried out their English lessons on the sports field. All instructions, games, and activities were carried out entirely in English.
The main focus was on the popular American sport Ultimate Frisbee. Students learned not only the rules and basic techniques of the game but also useful English phrases and expressions commonly used during play.
In addition to Ultimate Frisbee, the class explored other games popular in English-speaking countries. These included Sharks and Minnows from England, as well as Kickball and a variation of Dodgeball from the United States.
The English lessons were very hands-on and practical. Everyone tried their best to communicate in English at all times. To keep the motivation high, a fun rule was introduced: whenever someone spoke German, they had to complete the Funny Frog Challenge — a set of three frog jumps!
The students clearly enjoyed this active way of learning and practicing English. They not only moved their bodies but also improved their everyday language skills in a playful and memorable way. /gka
